Seven speeds – the new S tronic While the Audi Q5 2.0 TDI features a six-speed manual transmission, there is innovative technology into both the 3.0 TDI and 2.0 TFSI – the S tronic - a new twin-clutch transmission with seven speeds. This high-tech system offers gearshifts in just a fraction of a second, with exceptional comfort and high efficiency. Drivers can select either automatic gear shift or manual using rocker switches on the steering wheel. As in the new Audi A4, the position of the component units in the drivetrain has been altered in the Audi Q5. With the front axle much further forward, a long wheelbase has been created to offer optimum distribution of axle load with good directional stability, high comfort and impressive dynamics - the unique strength features of the Audi Q5 Audi, as pioneer of all-wheel drive, equips the Audi Q5 with quattro permanent all-wheel drive as standard. In normal running conditions, the power distributed ratio is 40front:60rear, the rear-focused style enhancing driving pleasure. When needed, the quattro can deliver up to 65 percent power to the front axle and a maximum of 85 percent to the rear. The latest generation running gear in the Audi Q5 also contributes to its outstanding composure. Both axles are made primarily from aluminium, with the steering box below directing the steering impulse straight to the wheels. Large brakes ensure high and safe stopping ability.
